Specializing In Threat Assessment

Determining the threat potential, behavioral characteristics, possible identity, and truthfulness of individuals who issue threats against people or organizations is a specialty of the Academy Group, Inc.

The techniques of scientific statement analysis were developed by and have been used by AGI members for over 20 years in their previous positions as Supervisory Special Agents with the FBI. They were program managers responsible for the analysis of ransom demand notes, extortion letters, and threatening or anonymous communications.

Regardless of whether the communication is handwritten, typewritten, "cut and pasted," verbal, or computer-generated message formats (i.e., email, text, or Twitter threats), we analyze the vocabulary, syntax, sentence structure, phraseology, and numerous other characteristics to understand the linguistic code of the author.

On any given document, AGI can conduct:

  • A threat analysis to determine the type of threat, the motive, and the probability of the threat being carried out (i.e., genuine versus hoax)
  • A content analysis to ascertain the author's primary motive, approximate age, sex, race, and intelligence or level of education
  • A stylistic analysis to study the variations and meaning in written language, and the cultural, social, technical, professional, and geographic background of the author
